Facebook Timeline Designs
Mashable asked us to dream up what brand pages might look like with the new Facebook Timeline. Our director of social Colin Murphy worked with Mashable to craft the story, and our art director Cris Westrell worked over the weekend to get these mocks completed. “As we were designing these,” Colin said, “I definitely realized the potential that Brand Timelines have. Like Mark Zuckerberg said, ‘you get a clear sense of what a person (and now a brand) is like’, just from visuals and what they choose to feature.” Every company has a story and in the future, Facebook will provide the platform to visualize that story.
In terms of the actual designs, Cris and Colin were especially careful to integrate the timeline’s capabilities, making sure they abided by Facebook’s visual guidelines so that the outcome was the most realistic it could be. Some of the other designs Mashable shared show mocks where the background and top bar have been changed. “Facebook will never allow that,” Colin said. “At least, they haven’t up until now.”
One last thing to keep your eye on is how brands will use the timeline to tell their brand’s story. With the inclusion of featured posts, it’ll be interesting to see what brands feature — whether that’s something they’ve created, fan comments, photos, etc. The sky’s the limit.
Our designs our below, take a look.
